Where to Apply: Registrar General in Nassau, New Providence.

ID Requirement: Photo ID such as passport or driver's license. Additionally, you will need a sworn declaration to prove that you are not married. If you are a US citizen, this can be done at the US Consul at the American Embassy in Nassau. Others can have a notarized declaration.

Residency Requirement: 24 hours for either the bride or groom. You must provide evidence of the date of your arrival in The Bahamas.

Waiting Period: 24 hours.

If Previously Married: If divorced, you must show the original final decree or a certified copy. If widowed, the death certificate of the deceased spouse must be provided.

Fees: $40.00 in cash only.

Other Tests: None.

Under 18: Under age 18, parental consent is necessary.

Proxy Marriages: No.

Religious Services: If you are a non-resident Catholic and want to marry in the Roman Catholic Church, you must provide proof that you have completed a six-week pre-marital course in your home town.

Miscellaneous: License is valid for 3 months from date of issue.
